This weekend, multiple teams of local runners represented MARs at the Ragnar Trail Cottage Country, held at Hardwood Ski and Bike. For those new to this concept, Ragnar Trail is a relay style event where teams of four or eight complete a series of three trails (known as “loops”) over two days and one night, totalling approximately 200 km of running per team.
Two ultra teams, Time to Grind and the MARsian ladies, both won their respective categories. In the Women’s Open category was Cat S, Darla Jean, Melissa M and Def Sheppard, with Dave J, Lil T, Nathan and Aiden on the men’s side. Congratulations runners on successfully completing this unusual form of punishment, while the rest of us enjoyed our warm beds Friday night. #youdoyou
Speaking of trails, the first annual Danimal Backyard Relay is taking place on September 15th right here in Huntsville. Danimal’s backyard loop is a 1k loop through natural Muskoka landscape with many hills and is considered very technical. The race format is a two person relay, where runners must complete the loop consecutively before the set cut off. For more information or to register, check the MARs’ Facebook page or speak to Dan directly.
See you on the roads!
