MARS battled the heat and humidity in Toronto Sunday with great performances at The Sporting Life 10K. The race raises money for Camp Oochigeas in Muskoka. Chris Watson, Katherine Ahokas, Pierre Mikhail, Catherine Smith, Hannah Mikhail and and Megan Mikhail joined the nearly 26,000 runners on the fast downhill course down Yonge Street.
Leading the way were Chris Watson and Katherine Ahokas. Chris ran the race in 35:23, placing 23rd overall and 3rd out of 1000 runners in his age group. Katherine placed 122nd overall, was the 14th woman out of nearly 15,000 and was 1st in her age group out of 2435 runners. Pierre Mikhail 99th overall, and 8th out of 800 runners in his age group. Catherine, Hannah and Megan continued a family tradition of racing a Yonge Street race every year. Pierre’s parents live 30m from the start of the race and have created a warm, welcoming environment pre race for our runners over the years!
Don’t forget the next MARS Fun Run is Tuesday May 12 at Hunter’s Bay Trail. Details here.
Organized runs continue this week Tuesday/Thursday at 6:15 am meeting at Conroy Park and Sunday at 7:30 am meeting at Pierre’s house. Details on TeamSnap.
See you on the roads….
