Muskoka Algonquin Runners welcomed Lynn Jennings this past weekend and made her an honorary MARSian. Friday morning, Lynn was treated to a fog bowl run meant to show off all of our waterfront. We assured her the water was beautiful. On Friday afternoon she was treated to a slow trot at Limberlost Wilderness Reserve. Later that day her dirty trail socks were presented to Vice President Troy Cox to encourage him to run on trails.
On Friday evening, 60 people took in An Evening With Lynn Jennings at The Active Living Center. Lynn had the audience engrossed with the story of her journey from last place grade 9 girl on an all boys team to Olympic Bronze medallist and Three Time World Cross Country Running champion. The talk was followed by some socializing at The Pub. Finally, on Saturday morning, Huntsville Hoyas runners who have qualified for the provincial championships, OFSAA, got a chance to train and be coached by Lynn. It was an inspiring outing.
Training on MARS continues this week with an Alternation Workout Tuesday at the track and 2 x 4k tempo intervals on Thursday. Both workouts take place at either the track or a 4K loop, so no one should feel left behind. It’s never too late to join us. Details can be found at the Calendar tab.

Contact Pierre Mikhail before November 13 if you would like to reserve one of these. Finally, the Huntsville Hoyas OFSAA-bound runners continue to stay sharp in advance of their big race November 1. The Hoyas depart October 31 for the University of Waterloo and train Monday-Thursday this coming week. Details about OFSAA can be found here.
