MARS HAS LANDED!

Muskoka Algonquin Runners held its first information meeting and executive meeting yesterday at The Active Living Centre. Thank you for a fabulous turnout despite winter storms!

Those who signed up for the club will receive email receipts once Louise Choquette is back from holiday and has had time to enter you on the Ontario Athletics website. Those interested in joining the club, please visit the Membership tab for details.

The online training calendar is now up and running! The first group run will be Tuesday April 2 from 6:30-7:30 am. Pierre will lead most of the Tuesday morning runs. Keeping the tradition of the Sunday Morning Running Group in Huntsville, Sunday runs will start at 9 am from the lower gates of Arrowhead Park beginning April 7 until the park opens in late May, then will meet at the Tim Horton’s on Highway 60 until summer. The goal of runs through the spring is to build fitness. Once summer starts the workouts are more specific and are geared toward a fall racing season of distances in the 5-10 km range. You do not have to race to join us for a workout but you do have to join the club!

Lowell and Katherine from The Sportlab have kindly offered to run our Monday morning runs all summer. As well, they will be offering two free “Introduction To Nutrition for Runners” and “Injury Prevention for Runners” learning seminars for club members!

We are looking for runners to lead runs that are listed on the calendar. If you are interested, please contact us through the Contact tab at the website. You do not have to be an expert to lead a run. You have to be friendly and reliable. For track/interval/hill workouts, there are detailed descriptions of each workout at the Calendar.

The Running Tools link has been updated to include a Cross Country Running Handbook that includes a detailed description of all training runs

If you are interested in volunteering for the May 3,4,5 BBQ or for Hoyas Invitational race October 2, please contact us.

We are selling bling – technical running shirts for $25 and racing singlets for $32. Contact us through the website if you are interested in purchasing. If you expressed an interest in the singlets, please let us know your size so we can order appropriately.

Finally, good luck to all those heading to Hamilton to conquer The Around The Bay 30K this weekend!
